Attendance
It is expected that online and correspondence students will exercise personal discipline in their daily routine of study.

Worship
It is expected that each student will be active in a worshipping community. It is primarily through church life that Christian character develops and that practical learning takes place. Each student is encouraged to maintain a journal of his or her church experience and Christian service.

Assignments
Assignments will vary from one course to another. Assignments may take the form of essays, questions to be answered, multiple-choice tests, fieldwork, local church activities, etc. This will depend on the syllabus the student follows and on the dialogue between him/her and the faculty mentor.

A number of assignments are mandatory. Failure to complete any of these may forfeit all credits for that particular subject. Other assignments are optional or affect only a percentage of the grade. The results will be sent to the student (usually by email) upon receipt of all assignments within 3-5 business days.

Personal or Financial Difficulties
Should a problem arise, whether personal, financial or in connection with policies, procedures or other aspects of university life, the student should immediately consult with his/her faculty mentor. Problems should not be allowed to grow until they become insurmountable. The student should not hesitate to seek advice, especially if he/she is contemplating dropping the course. At HVII, we will do everything possible to ensure that students succeed in their preparation for the ministry.

Differences
Students are not expected to agree with every single teaching they receive. They are expected, however, to consider the views of faculty members and fellow students with respect. Should a disagreement arise regarding a particular teaching, the student should endeavor to listen with an open mind, giving due attention to anything the Holy Spirit may be saying. The student should not expect the Holy Spirit to speak to everyone in the same way, or to lead everyone in the same direction. The Holy Spirit enables the church to display the manifold wisdom of God and one can learn much from others.

While free to express his/her own views in a number of assignments, the student, at other times, will be required to show an understanding of alternative viewpoints and to take into account a differing opinion, even if it contradicts his/her personal beliefs. It is important for the student to follow the instructions at all times while preparing for assignments.

Visits
All students are welcome to visit our offices in Paris, provided they give members of staff prior notice. We would be delighted to meet and dialogue with you as you travel on your educational journey.

Questions
While questions are welcomed, common courtesy dictates that students put their questions in writing to faculty mentors. It is understood that the student will give careful consideration to the faculty mentor’s response, even though it may be in conflict with his/her own stand. Continuous dialogue is an integral part of the educational experience at HVII, and the student should bear in mind that the faculty mentor is a senior academic or professional, who will help him/her grow in understanding, knowledge and wisdom.
